Men's 1st XV Preview by Ralph Henderson

This Saturday, Thurrock welcome Old Tiffinian's to Oakfield for the first time

Tiffin School, Kingston has a long and successful history. It's alumni include former Ireland and British Lions centre, Rob Henderson as well as former England and London Welsh fly- half, Neil Bennett.
Alec Stewart, the former England cricket captain was also a student at this celebrated school.
Old Tiffinians Rugby Club was founded in 1924 when Brigadier J.J.Harper, M.B.E., the long serving Headmaster of the Grammar School was an outstanding player for the team.

If records are to be believed, then this will be their first appearance at Oakfield and they are more than welcome at this wonderful venue where another magnificent school opened this week.

The prescience of Chief Executive, Steve Munday, has resulted in the joint project of bringing the highest quality education and sport to the area via Orsett Heath Academy.
The wonderful pitches shared by the club and school are testament to the meticulous care of the Ground Staff, while one of the country's best artificial pitches provides a mouth-watering alternative during inclement weather.

Thurrock, under the inspirational leadership of Niall Clifford, were disappointed to miss out by a single point last week at Battersea, but have some exciting new players including Jake O'Kill and John Frear alongside James Fergus & Seun Arowolo graduating from the Colts for their debut's. Young Lewis Squelch was unlucky to miss out after suffering an injury in the warm up. This weekend will see Harrison Smyth step up to potentially make his debut from the bench.

Old Tiffinians got their season off to a flying start with a home win against Medway by 18 points to 12.

With Oakfield, once again at its most resplendent, we are hoping for a fast and open game and may the better team win.
